What
Works in Secure Email: Anti-spam Makes for Home Sweet Home at
The Villages
January 19, 2006
1 pm EST/ 10 am PT
The Villages, a growing retirement community of over 35,000
homes, needed an email security solution that could protect their
network from email threats. While they needed to protect their
network from inbound email threats such as spam, viruses and
phishing, outbound filtering was also a key requirement. In hopes
of eliminating the excessive downtime they were experiencing
from inbound email threats, as well as avoiding their outbound
filtering and blacklist concerns, they tested a number of email
security products. They needed a solution that would be flexible
enough to support the diversity of their network without interfering
with the effectiveness of their exchange server. Join us as Brian
Marko tells how they happily settled on one that “provides
both inbound and outbound filtering, is moderate in price, simple
to deploy and use and does good reporting with few false positives.”
Speaker Bio: Brian Marko

1,300 users, and is also responsible for the organization's disaster
recovery planning. Brian also served with the U.S. Army's first
infantry division.

Spam, as an inbound threat, is another email-related issue that companies must contend with in order to demonstrate sound security practices. In this presentation, the topics of spam and email security will be discussed at a high level, as well as solutions for securing email and how they relate to compliance initiatives.

“Compliance” is becoming a hot topic among Exchange administrators at all kinds of organizations— but what does it mean to be compliant? We’ve all heard about legal and regulatory requirements, but there are many other types of compliance that may affect you. More broadly, “compliance” embraces questions about your company’s email policy, how you enforce it, and how that policy helps you— or hurts you— in protecting your company’s assets and data. This seminar won’t tell you what your policy should be, but it will help you by providing insight into compliance and policy issues that you need to know about, as well as suggestions on what to look for when implementing your compliance strategy. Lee Decker from Moore & VanAllen will also discuss his experience in achieving compliance, focusing on identifying and evaluating email compliance tools, such as those provided by MailFrontier.
