MailFrontier Enables Compliance Without Complexity For Business Enterprise
Inbound and Outbound Content Compliance Features Critical To Achieving
Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Governance
PALO ALTO, Calif. - October 27, 2005 – MailFrontier™,
the leader in email security, today announced new compliance features for intelligent
identification and integrated remediation options to MailFrontier Gateway™ in
order for businesses to meet the increasing challenges of compliance requirements,
whether it be corporate governance or regulatory compliance measures such as
HIPAA, GLBA, and SOX. The worldwide information management for compliance is
forecast to pass the $20 billion mark in 2009, and grow at a 22 percent compound
annual growth rate through 2005-2009, according to analyst research firm IDC.¹ MailFrontier
enables business enterprises to achieve critical inbound and outbound email compliance
and preserve corporate security - without complexity and without requiring another
separate appliance.
“The threat to corporate security coming from within organizations is increasing and the stakes are high, be they consequences of violating external regulatory requirements or internal corporate policies and best practices. Outbound content compliance is becoming a critical requirement when evaluating email security solutions as a key component in protecting corporate digital assets and in enforcing corporate governance,” said Brian Burke, research manager for IDC's security products service. “Content identification engines, such as those offered in MailFrontier's email security solution, provide businesses with an arsenal of tools that will enable outbound content compliance and will enforce corporate governance.”
“Business enterprises, particularly the mid-enterprise market, rely on MailFrontier because of our technology's manageability and effective emerging threat protection. Mid-enterprises are subject to the same compliance requirements as Fortune 500 companies, but are challenged to institute compliant practices due to smaller staff and more limited resources,” said Anne Bonaparte, president and CEO, MailFrontier. “MailFrontier brings a pragmatic approach to today's compliance market. Our offering is part of a comprehensive security solution that makes email protection easy and enables consolidation of email infrastructure.”
MailFrontier Offers Pragmatic Approach to Compliance
MailFrontier enables businesses to establish compliance policies and provides the power to easily enforce these policies across an organization or specific groups.
- Streamlined Manageability. Creates powerful inbound and outbound policies easily through MailFrontier's Web-based administrative interface. The multi-lingual centralized management console enables unified administration of all systems, delegation of responsibilities, and at-a-glance reporting.
- Intelligent Identification. Effectively identifies possible compliance violations and confidential emails, once compliance policies are in place, through rigorous content analysis of messages from senders.
By Route - Sender, Recipient, Role, Group
- LDAP-based Role/Group Identification. Leverages MailFrontier's
real-time LDAP integration and identity-based management to specify policies
for groups, departments, business units and geographies.
- By Content - Subject, Message Body, Attachment
- Content Filter. Checks for specific content in any part of the message.
- Disguised Text Identification. Leverages statistical methods to identify possible variations of text designated by the enterprise.
- Attachment Scanning. Applies the same rigorous type
of content evaluation to email attachments.
- Intelligent Attachment Matching. Uses heuristic rules to identify mislabeled attachments that attempt to evade corporate policies or contain malicious code.
- Dictionaries. Imports wordlists to match against and
scan for non-compliant communications.
- Integrated Remediation. Utilizes a range of remediation options once non-compliant or confidential email has been identified:
- Stop. Deletes, quarantines, or bounces the message.
- Notify. Alerts the sender, IT, or audit group, providing
information on the violation. Adds disclaimers or signatures.
- Review. Places items in MailFrontier Approval Box
to review suspect email before sending.
- Archive. Quarantines emails either within
MailFrontier Gateway or routes to corporate email archive.
- Encrypt. Leverages MailFrontier Gateway's STARTTLS
SSL-for-email to secure email between business partners. MailFrontier
partnerships with PGP and Voltage provide a unified solution for secure
email delivery to seamlessly encrypt, decrypt, and digitally sign confidential
email messages.
New functionality being released in November includes Approval Boxes, Scheduled Reports, Distribution List Expansion, and Reputation of Authenticated Senders. For more information on MailFrontier's compliance offering visit www.mailfrontier.com/products/appliance_compliance.jsp .
