MailFrontier Positioned in the Visionary
Quadrant
In First Enterprise Spam Filtering Magic Quadrant
Palo Alto, Calif. – March 5, 2004 – MailFrontier, a
pioneer in messaging security and leading provider of anti-spam solutions,
today announced that Gartner, a leading technology research and advisory
firm, positioned MailFrontier in the visionary quadrant of its Enterprise
Spam Filtering Magic Quadrant for 1Q 2004. To be included in the visionary
quadrant, MailFrontier was evaluated on completeness and scope of features
and functionality for the following criteria: strategic plan, sophistication
of detection, management and administration, content expertise and customer
support/infrastructure, and platform capabilities beyond spam filtering.
“Sophistication of detection, management and administration are
critical criteria required of those vendors recognized as leaders in the
visionary quadrant,” according to the Gartner report. “Evidence
of innovation, quality of collection and detection, responsiveness to
emerging customers’ requirements, product stability all weighed
heavily in identifying these visionaries.”
In the report, Gartner states the spam problem has become so enormous
that clients report that 60 to 75 percent of incoming e-mail is spam.
This has evolved from a nuisance and storage cost drain to a major vector
for malicious code and fraud, according to the Gartner report. MailFrontier
agrees with Gartner’s requisite for a tightly integrated solution
that blocks spam, fraud and all other unwanted emails. As Gartner stated
in a January report, “…vendors should include anti-phishing
features in their products until the structure of the Internet includes
needed anti-fraud capabilities.” (Gartner, Inc., “How to Spot,
and Stop, ‘Phishing’ E-Mail Attacks” by R. Mogull, January
26, 2004.)
MailFrontier was the first in the industry to introduce a tightly integrated
anti-spam, anti-fraud, anti-virus and policy management enterprise software
suite, providing a comprehensive messaging security solution. Introduced
in February 2004, MailFrontier Enterprise GatewayTM 3.0 is the only enterprise-scale
solution with a distributed architecture enabling IT departments to filter
email at the perimeter of the corporation, while keeping management, settings,
quarantine, and all user access within the secure corporate network.
“We believe that Gartner’s recognition of MailFrontier in
the visionary quadrant further confirms our commitment to providing comprehensive
detection and management functionalities, which we agree is the single
most important factor when selecting an anti-spam vendor,” said
Pavni Diwanji, CEO and co-founder of MailFrontier. “Threats to email
continue to evolve and become more targeted and dangerous. MailFrontier
prides itself on staying ahead of the curve, identifying threats before
they arise, and developing complete, integrated solutions to protect a
corporation’s entire messaging system.”
