MailFrontier™
Announces Support for Outlook Express® in Beta Release of Matador™
2.0, Answering Consumer Demand for a Comprehensive and Effective Anti-Spam
Solution
Palo Alto, Calif., February 5, 2003 – MailFrontier, a next-generation
messaging security company, today released the beta version of Matador
2.0, which now includes support for Outlook Express, Hotmail, MSN, and
IMAP when used through the email client. The amount of spam inundating
consumer’s email boxes is skyrocketing, and Matador 2.0 offers
a greatly needed reprieve. Outlook Express currently accounts for over
20 percent of the consumer email market, and these users are crying
out for an effective way to keep their inbox free of spam. MailFrontier
identified a specific need among at-home email users and expanded upon
their already popular software to become one of the first major anti-spam
solution companies with a product supporting Outlook Express in addition
to Outlook.
“Spam quickly became a problem that I could no longer ignore,
and after reviewing several options, I decided that MailFrontier’s
solution was the most comprehensive and effective on the market,”
said Neil Miller, President of Miller Systems, Inc. “Matador blocks
99% of my spam, saving me time and energy that used to be spent sorting
through distracting and offensive junk email.”
Stop Spam Now - Keep your Inbox Clear
With each passing day, the number of unsolicited emails invading inboxes
across the country drastically increases. People are now forced to navigate
through unwanted, and often offensive, emails in order to find any legitimate
messages. Now consumers can depend on Matador’s proven multi-pronged
approach to protect them from “Refinance your home now”
and “Earn a college degree overnight” messages constantly
infiltrating Outlook Express.
“We have watched the number of spam emails a person receives increase
exponentially, and wanted to provide consumers with a way to fight back
against the spammers,” said Pavni Diwanji, CEO and co-founder
of MailFrontier. “We want to make the concept of spam so ineffective,
that it is no longer used to target innocent consumers. We developed
Matador to be the most comprehensive solution on the market and customize
to fit an individual user’s definition of spam. Matador 2.0 lets
consumers take back control of their inbox.”
The problem you can’t ignore- statistics
According to the DoubleClick 2002 Consumer Email Study, the number one
issue among consumer email users is the amount of unsolicited commercial
email they receive. 90% of those surveyed list this as their primary
concern. Their worries are sure to increase as well, as spam output
is estimated to skyrocket to 15 billion messages a day by 2006, a seven-fold
increase from today, according to market research firm Radicati Group.
MailFrontier recognizes the severity of the problem and developed an
innovative solution that combats spam on many levels, with the goal
of protecting email as a viable means of communication.
Matador – fighting the bull
In developing Matador 2.0, MailFrontier has sought to put power back
into the hands of end-users, taking it away from spammers. The following
anti-spam weapons have been integrated alongside other tried and trusted
tools such as blacklists and message filtering;
| • |
Matador for Outlook Express automatically learns which people
and topics are important to you - dynamically devising and maintaining
a set of personalized preferences; |
| • |
Matador 2.0 users collaborate with each other to identify spam
simply by hitting a junk button on their Outlook or Outlook Express
toolbar. This prevents other Matador users from receiving the same
offensive email; |
| • |
Matador 2.0’s ground-breaking sender verification is the
ultimate inbox guardian. Suspect, unsolicited email is subjected
to an extra check and the sender is asked to answer a simple challenge
via email. Unauthorized emails are treated as junk; |
| • |
Matador 2.0 makes email filtering simple- it provides a unified
program that supports Outlook, Outlook Express, and Hotmail, MSN,
and IMAP when used through Outlook Express |
Pricing and availability
Matador, a downloadable desktop client, is currently available for users
of Microsoft® Outlook® (2000 and 2002) running on Windows®
98, ME, 2000 and XP for a price of $29.95. The beta version of Matador
2.0, which supports Outlook Express® (5.0/5.5/6.0), Hotmail, MSN,
and IMAP, is currently available at no charge on MailFrontier’s
