MailFrontier recognizes and respects your right to privacy. Our passion
and business is to protect email and we will not compromise yours.
MailFrontier Website
You may visit our website without providing MailFrontier with any
personal information. However, in certain sections of our website,
we may invite you to submit questions or comments, request information,
or submit resumes. Due to the nature of some of these activities,
we may ask that you complete and submit an online form with personal
information such as your name, address, phone number, and email address.
MailFrontier will not sell, rent, or give this information to any
organization or individual outside of MailFrontier without your express
consent, with the exception of the third party vendor that maintains
the database which stores this information. MailFrontier, through
such third party vendor, periodically sends promotional email about
new products, product enhancements and special offers to the email
addresses provided during the registration process.
To improve the
usability of our website, we log the way it is used. Information
collected in this log contains items such as how many pages are viewed
and which links are clicked overall. No personal information is captured
during logging.
MailFrontier Desktop (Matador)
MailFrontier Desktop is a software application which resides on your
computer. At certain times, such as when you identify an email as
Junk by clicking the Junk button, MailFrontier creates a thumbprint
(irreversible signature which contains no email content or headers)
and a linkprint (an encoded form of an outbound link of an email). These are used to filter other similar junk
mail for the MailFrontier community. Thumbprints and linkprints do not contain
any personally identifiable information such as your name, the subject of the
email or the text of the message, ensuring that your email messages remain completely
private. Linkprints will be decoded by MailFrontier for the sole purpose
of assisting MailFrontier in blocking junk email and will not be released to
anyone other than to employees or consultants of MailFrontier who have a need
to know the information in order to provide the services. None of your
email (legitimate or junk) ever leaves your computer without your permission.
In fighting spam, MailFrontier Desktop users have the option to send Challenges
to senders of suspected junk email. To verify the sender is legitimate and add
them to your whitelist, MailFrontier briefly stores your email address in order
to match the confirmation of the Challenge response. MailFrontier Desktop then
discards your email address.
MailFrontier Desktop lets you selectively report email fraud to MailFrontier,
and gives you the double opt-in option to automatically report email identified
as fraud to MailFrontier. When email fraud is reported via either of these methods,
the email being reported is forwarded in its complete and original form to MailFrontier
for use in protecting other users, issuing fraud advisories, and notifying spoofed
organizations, financial institutions, law enforcement, government agencies,
and other entities involved in halting the crime of fraud. Except as necessary
to investigate and prosecute reported email fraud, your email address, name and
other personal information which may be contained in emails reported as fraud
is never released.
MailFrontier Desktop periodically contacts us to check for software updates.
No personally identifiable information is sent in this communication.
Purchasing MailFrontier Desktop
MailFrontier uses a third party to handle billing for MailFrontier Desktop.
Information you provide in the billing process is protected by their privacy
policy. Our billing provider will not sell, rent or trade personal information
to others not associated with the purchase transaction.
MailFrontier Gateway™ Server
MailFrontier Gateway Server is a software application that enterprises install
on a server within the corporation. Periodically, MailFrontier Gateway Server
sends two types of encoded information back to MailFrontier: 1) UnJunk thumbprints
(irreversible signatures which contain no email content or headers) and 2) general
spam blocking data (e.g., aggregate data on number of messages processed and
junked, success of spam blocking methods.) No personally identifiable information,
no email content, and no corporate information ever leaves the enterprise without
direct permission. Furthermore, corporations can choose to turn off sending of
this information within the product.
MailFrontier Gateway Server gives you the option of automatically forwarding
email identified as fraud to MailFrontier. When email fraud is forwarded to MailFrontier,
it is sent in its complete and original form for use in protecting other users,
issuing fraud advisories, and notifying spoofed organizations, financial institutions,
law enforcement, government agencies, and other entities involved in halting
the crime of fraud. Except as necessary to investigate and prosecute reported
email fraud, personally and corporately identifiable information which may be
contained in emails forwarded as fraud is never released.
